Maple Swamp Conservation is 770 acres of land in Sandwich off the Service Road. It has some of the tallest and steepest hills on Cape Cod which then give great views out over the Bay. The steep hillsides lead down to swampy lowlands full of bugs and vocal frogs that you can see in the video.  As with any most trails around here, ticks and poison ivy are plentiful you also need to beware of hunters during the session. Trails are a great mixture of winding single track and wide direct fire roads. The property is bisected by the power lines running from Quaker Meeting House Rd on the west to Chase Rd on the east.  It abuts the Barnstable town line allowing access to the West Barnstable Conservation area creating unbroken trails from exit 3 to exit 5 of the Mid-Cape Highway. The Cape Cod Pathways trail cuts through the properties on its way to the ends of the Cape. A link to the trail map and guide for Maple Swamp can be found over at the Sandwich page of www.secludedcapecod.com and parking locations can be found on the Adventure map.  If you are looking for a strenuous long hike with views, Maple Swamp can be a great fit.
